The Hoary Edge skipper can be confused with the Silver-spotted Skipper. The Hoary Edge skipper has a diffuse white spot at the margin of the hindwing. The Silver-spotted Skipper has an intense white spot with a clearly defined edge in the median portion of the hindwing.
