Wild Indigo Duskywing (Erynnis baptisiae) Blackwell Forest Preserve, DuPage County, Illinois May 11, 2008 Note the pale beige hindwing fringe and white background at wing apex, all within normal variation for the Wild Indigo Dusky Wing. Adults usually stay near their larval stage host and this is an important factor in identification. In this case, the skipper was found near a large mound of crownvetch, its preferred legume.
